A journey rooted in tradition

Kathak · Folk · Fusion

The kendra is known for training in Kathak, folk dance and fusion dance forms. Trimurti Kala Kendra was founded in 1998 in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, by the visionary artist and teacher Divya Choubey. With a vision to give back to society what she had learnt from her teachers, she started this kendra — extending to a Bangalore branch in 2009.

She is well known in the field of Kathak, having studied the form for nearly fifteen years under the strict discipline and guidance of the distinguished guru Mrs Tripti Dasgupta and “Taal Mani” Pt. Karodi Lal Bhatt. Mrs. Divya Choubey received her degree in Kathak from the renowned Pracheen Kala Kendra, Chandigarh University.

She has given numerous performances throughout India and appeared in many prominent Kathak productions, including those on Doordarshan Television. “Dasmahavidhya”, “Gayatri Vandana” and other vandanas are her genre. She has raised many issues of social and national interest on various platforms.

“Having come from a family of artists, I believe it is my duty to encourage the young generation to rediscover our ancient dance forms — treasures too often ignored under the pressure of modernisation.”

Divya Choubey is indebted to her parents, gurus and her husband for their unconditional support and guidance.
